Airbus A340

Lufthansa has been operating the Airbus A340 since 1993 when their  first A340-300 took to the skies.   In 2003, Lufthansa expanded the A340 fleet when Airbus introduced the A340-600 variant.  At the peak of A340 operations, Lufthansa operated 50 of the type.   Recently,  LH has begun retiring the oldest of their A340-300 aircraft.  3 A340-300s have been retired so far in 2014:  D-AIGD, D-AIGF & D-AIGH.
