BMI has quietly launched a miles sale for its Diamond Club members.
If you are a Diamond Club Member, you can receive a 50% bonus when you buy miles between December 5 and 11. Not a bad deal if you need to buy up miles to get to a redemption level.
I’m going to take advantage of this for my account as well as for the 5 family members in my family plan. Remember, you can buy miles for up to 8 members in a family plan, then transfer the miles to one account for redemption.
BMI historically has some of the best redemption rates for international business class and first class travel on Star Alliance Partners. With BMI Diamond Club still fully functioning until at least April, there’s plenty of time for redemption opportunities. And once Diamond Club’s fate is determined with Lufthansa’s sale of BMI the miles no doubt will still be valid where ever they wind up.
I would not hesitate to buy miles, especially if you’re going to use them in the short term!

Presumably these will become Avios points/miles when the BA/BMI merger is done?
Odds are yes, but personally would not be surprised if lh didn’t keep existing bmi loyalists in the star alliance family. I suspect we will know late first quarter of 2012
Sounds like a good offer – but I’m hoping to check award availability before I take the plunge but can’t seem to see anything? (Based in US). Just joined DC, and it’s not even letting me search for flights under spend miles online. Any ideas?
