Beginning November 1, Business Class passengers traveling on long haul flights to Africa and the USA will be introduced to Chef-inspired cuisine based on Belgian influences.

The new dining program, dubbed “Belgian Star Chefs”, will only be available on flights that depart Brussels.   A new “Star Chef” and their menu will be introduced every 4 months.  Each Chef that has been chosen will reflect a different aspect of Belgian gastronomy and will focus on a menu driven by locally sourced ingredients from Belgian regions.

To launch the program, Brussels will introduce a menu created by Chef Geert Van Hecke whose restaurant, De Karmeliet, has earned a 3-star award from Michelin.   Chef Van Hecke will bring 30 years of experience when his menu is introduced to Brussels passengers.

The Star Chef menu options will compliment the existing onboard dining options.   Passengers will still have the option to choose from 2 other standard menu options along with options based on special dietary needs (Kosher, Vegetarian, etc).

I had the opportunity to experience Brussels’ wonderful Business Class product on my trip to Europe this past weekend and will have more to share with you regarding their fantastic product and hospitality later this week after I sort out my notes and photos.   Based on everything that I experienced, this new program will take an already great product and make it that much better!
