A few days ago Lufthansa’s newest addition to it’s fleet, the Boeing 747-8i, made it’s first visit to Frankfurt as part of its current testing schedule.

This visit was to allow Lufthansa’s Technik to test the 747-8i on various airport sytems such as Jet Bridges, Fueling Systems, Hangar Access and various other airport operations items. If things go well, the first 747-8i in full Lufthansa dress will be delivered to Frankfurt in the latter part of the 1st quarter, or early 2nd quarter of 2012.

Lufthansa currently has 20 747-8i’s on order, making Lufthansa the largest purchaser of the new aircraft. It will also be Boeing’s Launch Partner for the passenger version.

Below are some of the images released by Lufthansa over the past few days highlighting some of the activity surrounding the maiden visit of the 747-8i. I hope to have photos of the departure as soon as Lufthansa releases them. All Photos are courtesy of Lufthansa and subject to their copyright protection
