For those of you who have been visiting my blog since it started (3 weeks ago, and THANK YOU!….) you would have read my post about my upcoming trip to Hong Kong. If you haven’t had a chance to read it, you can Click Here to go catch up!
Since this is my first visit to HKG, I decided to have some fun with it and have a contest to help me find things to do for the roughly 36 hours that I’ll be on the ground. The 3 readers with the best ideas (judged solely by Mrs. LufthansaFlyer and myself) will win souvenirs from HKG. So far here are the ideas/entries. They are in no particular order:

There have been some duplicates so the first reader with the idea will get the credit. I’ll keep the contest open for another week (ending next Wednesday, 23 November) and will announce the winners by the following Saturday. At that point I’ll reach out to the winners to have their input on souvenir ideas. A BIG Thanks to EVERYONE who took the time to submit these ideas. I would have never have discovered these opportunities on my own. The only thing left to worry about is whether or not my upgrade clears……anyone have any ideas for that??
like dim sum? visit a michelin rated dim sum restaurant called Tim Ho Wan. Original location is in Mong Kok. prices are pretty cheap too but watch for the long lines. bon appetit!

Massage trip to Shenzhen
How about a couple hours at the Chungking Mansions in Kowloon while it lasts – an athmospheric yet eerie dated giant mazelike highrise block of shops, restaurants and guesthouses of all sorts, made immortal in the old movie “Chungking Express”. Truly a mall like no other in this world. Maybe the last place in Kowloon with a true “old feeling” to it. There are plans to take it down, so better go while it’s still there.
36 hours there would give you time to explore Kowloon & Central and Causeway Bay (where Times Square is, which is a mall). I don’t know if the racetrack, NP360 or Macau are worth it, too much time in transit to and from.
My personal favorites are:
– Walking around from Central (IFC Mall through the connected buildings towards Admirality)
– Peak Tram (either day or night, if it’s clear out).
– Symphony of Lights either from TST or from Harbour Cruise (ferry is too short).
– The Peninsula either for a drink or the touristy “tea & cake” is nice however. From the Peninsula you can walk around Nathan Road a bit.
Next time I’m in HK, I want to try the bar at the new Ritz Carlton, on the 118th floor.
Walk through one of the Computer Shopping Centre/Arcades once and try to not get lost.
