Last week on my flight to Hong Kong, there was a confluence of events that led to a great opportunity to capture some great images of Siberia. First, the flight path took us a bit more “over the top” than is normal for the route. Second, we were cruising at only 30,000 feet. Third, I had a CLEAN window. No scratches, streaks or frost crystals. Finally, and most importantly, it was clear.
Combining these elements led to hours of spectacular viewing. Literally every blink of an eye led to another great scene. I’ve filtered out some of the best ones from the 100 or so that I took while we were cruising over Siberia. Enjoy!
I have had the same type of experience. Forget the on-board entertainment! All you need is a clean window and the conditions you describe. Glad to see that someone else appreciates this rare ability to view the stunning scenery.
Nice pics!!!

Super! best part of being high – the view! Thanks for sharing
Hi Lufthansa Flyer. Nice images. That’s a part of the world I am curious to see. Nice to be flying at a lower elevation. Thanks for sharing.
What camera did you use to take these photos?
Nikon D7000 with a Nikon 35mm/ 1.4 Prime. A few images were cropped.
