LUFTHANSA Announces Special A350 Destination: 서울

Lufthansa has updated their Winter timetable for 2018 to reflect that the A350’s next destination will be Seoul, South Korea.

But before you get too excited, it appears (based on AirlineRoute.net) that it will only fly from Munich to Seoul twice.   Once on February 4, and then again on February 25, returning to MUC on February 5 and 26.

This schedule is not an accident, but reflects the beginning and ending of the Winter Olympics that will be hosted by South Korea next year.   No doubt that LH will use the A350 to bring German Olympians and their fans to the event and then take them home afterwards.

The flights will operate as LH718 departing MUC at 4:10p, and the return flight will operate as LH719 departing Seoul the next day at 12:30p.

Lufthansa has updated their Winter 17/18 timetable to reflect an increase of A350 use between Munich and Boston.   Before this update, LH planned to send the A350 to Boston only on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

With the latest update, the A350 will now fly daily between Munich and Boston at least for February and March.    So between February 3 and March 28, passengers will be able to enjoy the newest aircraft type in the fleet.

As it stands now the A350 will still fly the route daily from October 29 to December 1, but for the height of the holiday season in December and January, the A346 will do the heavy lifting on Saturdays, Sundays, and Wednesdays.

LUFTHANSA Changes Its Mind About Boston And The A350

Two weeks ago, Lufthansa updated their Winter Timetable which reflected the removal of the A350 from their Munich-Boston route.   The removal was slated for October 29, at which point a mix of A330 and A340 aircraft were scheduled to take over on the route for the winter.

With their update today, Lufthansa has walked back that decision and has extended the A350’s presence on Munich-Boston through the entire winter schedule.   However it will not be a daily basis.

The A350 will fly the route daily until December 1.    Then beginning on December 2, the A350 will only fly the route on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.   The A340-600 will fly the route on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Expect further tweaks to their timetable in the coming weeks.

LUFTHANSA Extends A350 Service To Delhi And Mumbai

Lufthansa has updated their timetable to reflect that the A350 will remain on routes from Munich to both Mumbai and Delhi beyond this Summer.

Initially, the A350 was scheduled to serve the routes until the end of the 2017 Summer timetable, but now the schedule reflects that the A350 will remain on these routes for the Winter 2017/18 schedule.    This suggests that the A350 will be flying to these destinations through at least March of 2018.

LUFTHANSA Gets Its 3rd A350

Lufthansa has taken delivery of their 3rd Airbus A350, D-AIXC, in Toulouse, France today.    The aircraft is scheduled to be flown to Munich tomorrow where after a short period of fine tuning, will join ‘XA’ and ‘XB’ in daily service.

The delivery of the latest A350 makes it possible for Lufthansa to begin using the A350 on its Munich – Mumbai beginning on April 15.  Ultimately 25 A350s will join the fleet and will be stationed between Frankfurt and Munich, as aircraft such as the A340 are phased out.

@LufthansaNews shared a few images from the official registration decals being applied to ‘XC’ earlier today:
