LUFTHANSA Updates South Africa Timetable

LUFTHANSA Updates South Africa Timetable

Aside from all of this strike talk, Lufthansa did take time to announce that they have made a change that impacts their service to Cape Town, South Africa.

Until now, Lufthansa flew between Frankfurt and Cape Town only during the winter season in the northern hemispehere, which is the same time that South Africa enjoys its summer.   Beginning with their Spring/Summer timetable, the route will be flown year-around.   The 3 weekly flights will continue to be the same:

Lufthansa flight LH576 will depart Frankfurt at 10:15p on Wednesday/Friday/Sunday.   The flight arrives in Cape Town at 10:00a the following morning.

Lufthansa flight LH577 will depart Cape Town at 5:40p on Monday/Thursday/Saturday.  The flight arrives in Frankfurt at 5:40a the following morning.

Lufthansa will continue to use the Airbus A340-300 on the route.

Daily service between Frankfurt and Johannesburg remains unchanged.

LUFTHANSA Brings Back Frankfurt – Cape Town

LUFTHANSA Brings Back Frankfurt – Cape Town

Beginning December 2, Lufthansa will resume service between Frankfurt and Cape Town, South Africa.   Flights will operate 3 times a week aboard a 3-class A340-300 aircraft (Business / Prem Eco / Economy).    Departures will take place from Frankfurt on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays while return flights from Cape Town will operate on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays.    Here are the flight details:

Lufthansa LH576 will depart Frankfurt at 10:10p and arrive in Cape Town the following morning at 11:00a.  Flight time is scheduled for 11 hours 50 minutes.

Lufthansa LH577 will depart Cape Town at 6:30p and arrive in Frankfurt the following morning at 5:30a.   Flight time is scheduled for 12 hours.

Be mindful that when searching or booking for flights, it appears that First Class is available, but when you dig deeper, those fares book in ‘J’ fares which are Business Class seats.    Not sure why LH has that error in the booking system.  I blame the millennial hipsters in IT for that one.

Booking is now available on Lufthansa.com
