A United Airlines flight from Atlanta had to make an emergency landing without it’s nose gear tonight. Flight 5124, an ERJ170, landed without further incident and the airport reopened most of its runways approximately 1 hour later. No injuries were reported.

The airlines have outsourced their product just like most other American companies….no one wants to bear the responsibility any more! 🙂
Oh, the price of branding the commuter lines! UAL/Cont. does not want this kind of press, generated by a small contract carrier – but their name is on the plane – mostly for marketing purposes. One has to wonder as well… Since when is Atlanta to Newark a “Regional” or “COmmuter” flight. Do the legacy carriers fly any domestic routes, on their own metal, other than JFK-SFO/LAX? Their domestic routes are gone!
Seriously. And this was the icing on the cake as our flight was already delayed three hours due to a mechanical issue and we were deplaned and what not. At least no one was hurt.
I was actually in the air at this time trying to land at Newark. All runways were closed and we had to circle the airport for quite a bit. We had about 10 minutes worth of fuel left and headed towards Philly to get more fuel. Luckily, we were able to turn around quickly and land in Newark.
@deals- WOW! nothing like running on fumes at 30,000!
