In my stack of mail today was an offer from United for their MileagePlus Explorer Card offering 50,000 miles after the first use, 5000 miles for an authorized user on the account and then 10,000 miles for every $25,000 you spend on the card in a calendar year.
If you are interested here is the link that was provided in the mailing
NOTE: This is not an affiliate link, I do not receive any compensation for this offer! – though a quick thanks will be appreciated!. This is the link that was in the mailer.
The link requires you to enter your MileagePlus account number. If you are not a member, there is a link to enroll.
The best offer that I have seen for this card had been a 40,000 bonus after the first use of the card. Apologies if you have already seen this offer, however this is the first time that I’ve seen it.
Just a FYI, there are links out there for 60K and 65K for the UA Explorer signup.
I got a similar (50K+5K+10K, no $50 credit) link from the MileagePlus site. I haven’t flown United in years, but have one trip this summer on which United has the only non-stop route. I got the card just to buy those tickets and save on baggage fees.
By the way, I seem to get 50 United miles through TopGuest airport checkins, but TopGuest doesn’t list United as a “Program.” Does anyone know how this is happening? Point is, you can apparently get the required United miles though TopGuest, but I don’t know how to make it happen.
In order to get this offer, you need to have the Mileage account with United and have some miles in it.
If you have 10 miles in it, you would be eligible. So, you need to sign-up for the account and get some miles put into it.
@Danny: I just had a friend who used the link w/o an MP account and was able to sign up for MP and apply for the card. At least thats the feedback he provided.
thanks for the link. I will be applying tomorrow so perfect timing!
Got an even better deal when I got the card about two months ago – 50,000 miles & $50 statement credit after first use, 5,000 miles for authorized user, and 10,000 miles for $25K spending.
You are only eligible for this offer if you have miles in your MileagePlus account. There is an existing FT link for 50k + $50 statement credit after first spend with an additional 5k for authorized users.
Kris – I think this offer dropped down to 25k plus 15k in early 2012.
LufthansaFlyer- I would like to get the 50 k for Mrs L Flight but she does not seem to be eligible for the 50k. She has never had this csrd. Got me wondering how they identify eligible applicants.
I have been getting this offer since day one. I signed up using it probably five months ago.
