Star Alliance carrier US Airways announced today during a media briefing in Phoenix that they will expand WiFi coverage to include their Embraer family of regional jets.
This includes the E-190,175 and 170 Regional Jets. Availability will also increase on their narrow body jets as well. According to US Air, 74 ERJ’s will be outfitted by the middle of this year and 209 of their A320s and A319s will see WIFI by the middle of 2013.
I’m hoping that United follows this example. My 136 mile (or is it 131 under their original plan) long haul between GRR and ORD is dreadfully boring and having the internet available for 15 minutes would go a long way to improve cabin comfort!
US Airways is soooooo LATE!!!!
Delta already has wifi on its entire domestic fleet – regional jets included for about a month now.
@Kris, yep that should be read with a sarcasm filter!
I’m trying to figure out if that last sentence is a joke or not. Either way, it is nice to see that US is expanding to their other domestic planes. I seem to recall hearing this would happen back when UA announced fleet wide wifi.
I guess if you are bored on a flight could always try a paper based product otherwise known as a book or magazine just a idea wanting till 2013 is a awfully long time
I’m allergic to paper cuts……
