On Monday June 4th Lufthansa took their new 747-8i “Brandenburg” off of it’s scheduled route between Frankfurt and Washington DC so that she could fly the German National Football (Soccer) Team to the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament that is being co-hosted by Poland and The Ukraine.
Flight number 342 took off at approximately 2:00p and carried the team, team officials and members of the media on a 90 minute flight to Gdansk, Poland.
Germany’s team will play it’s initial matches in Lviv, Ukraine but the team’s HQ will be in Gdansk, Poland for the duration of the tournament. For more information on this tournament that is conducted once every 4 years, please visit UEFA’s Euro Cup Website.
