AUSTRIAN Lets You Bid For A Long Haul Business Class Seat

AUSTRIAN Lets You Bid For A Long Haul Business Class Seat

AUSTRIAN has announced a new program that will allow passengers the opportunity to bid for a Business Class seat via auction.   The new program is available to any passenger booked on a long haul flight that is operated by Austrian.

The process is simple, passengers can place their bids online and will be informed with 72 hours of their scheduled departure if their bid was accepted and if they will be seated in Business Class for their flight.

Successful bidders will have access to all the perks afforded with a Long Haul business class ticket including:

Enhanced DO&CO dining options.

Luggage allowances afforded to Business Class travelers.

Credit for Business Class miles in a passenger’s Miles&More account.

Business Class Check-In.

Conditions exist for this new concept:

The ticket has to be a revenue ticket (i.e. Economy award tickets are not eligible).

ALL Economy Class fares are eligible.

The auction is per segment/flight.  If you have multiple long haul flights on one AUSTRIAN itinerary, you will need to bid for a seat on each flight.

The auction does not apply to short-haul or medium-haul business class seats.

LUFTHANSA And AUSTRIAN Introduce Fee-Based Preferred Zone Seating In Economy

LUFTHANSA And AUSTRIAN Introduce Fee-Based Preferred Zone Seating In Economy

Lufthansa and Austrian are introducing a new concept that will allow Economy Class passengers to choose a seat further forward in the cabin for a nominal fee.

The concept is already in use by SWISS, and allows passengers to choose a seat that is closer to the aircraft’s exit (not exit rows!).    The preferred zone will be behind Premium Economy class on aircraft equipped with “Prem Eco”, and will will be immediately behind Business Class on birds that do not have a Premium Economy section.

The zones will be available on all long haul flights operated by Lufthansa and Austrian.   The fee for the seat will range between €30 and €50 ($37 to 62$).   The price is per segment, and will vary based on the length of the flight.

Passengers will be allowed to start using this new program on February 20 for flights that take place from March 7 and onward.

Miles&More HONs and Senators will continue to be able to choose their seats free of charge.

SUPERB LUFTHANSA / SWISS / OS / SN Business Class FARE SALE From Germany: €1350 ROUNDTRIP!

SUPERB LUFTHANSA / SWISS / OS / SN Business Class FARE SALE From Germany: €1350 ROUNDTRIP!

Lufthansa Group has launched an incredibly attractive BUSINESS CLASS Fare Sale to the USA from Germany with fares starting as low as €1339 ROUNDTRIP!    The fares are not expected to stay at these levels for more than a few days (if that!) so you might want to take advantage of them sooner than later.

The fare sale covers flights operated by LUFTHANSA, SWISS, AUSTRIAN, BRUSSELS, United, and Air Canada.

The travel windows seem to be fairly wide open with many travel dates available for travel between April and January 2019.    But like I said, this fare sale may only last hours or days.   Once the allotted fare classes are booked, the pricing will go back to normal.  The fares would required midweek departures and arrivals but that’s an insignificant hurdle to cross for this kind of deal!

Example fares include:

Munich to Los Angeles for €1339

Frankfurt to New York for €1339

Munich to Houston for €1339

Dusseldorf to Boston for €1339

and many other combos between German and US cities.
