Starting this Saturday, both USA bound flights from Düsseldorf will be flown by A340-300 aircraft that will feature Lufthansa’s latest Business Class cabin. The DUS-USA routes have always been a quiet little ‘secret’ when compared to flights from Munich and Frankfurt. DUS usually gets overlooked when one thinks about routes between the US and Germany.
Aircraft D-AIGT and D-AIGV are the dedicated 2-class A343s that are based in Düsseldorf and will serve as the workhorses between DUS-Newark and DUS-Chicago. Keep in mind that there always exist the potential for other aircraft to be substituted due to flight planning or maintenance issues, though these instances should be fairly rare.
Flight information is as follows:
Düsseldorf – Newark (Daily Service):
Flight 408 departs Düsseldorf at 12:05p and arrives in Newark at 2:35p.
Flight 409 departs Newark at 4:25p and arrives in Düsseldorf at 6:05a.
Düsseldorf – Chicago (Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday Saturday):
Flight 436 departs Düsseldorf at 12:45p and arrives in Chicago at 3:00. Flight 437 departs Chicago at 5:35p and arrives in Düsseldorf at 8:50a.
The EWR-DUS flights have been 3-cabin, as I recall. Has F been removed from the A343s serving this route, or is it the Neue First product as well?
what happened to booking business class with United miles FRA -JFK OR MUC JFK — NO SEATS AFTER AUGUST — who is blocking?? is it UA ? or LH
I see some seats going out into October, but not many. If anything its inventory control on LH’s side. Could also be that they see less demand for award tix after the UA devaluation. I was able to help someone book tickets last week from IAD to MUC for September. I don’t think they’re picking on NYC airports.
Do you know if there any plans for the 2 Boston-Frankfurt flights to get the new business class seats anytime soon?
The problem with Boston is that the flights are operated by 744s which are slated to see the the new Biz class late this year, but only 1 or 2 are planned to be completed in 2014. The rest will be done next year. If/when they switch back to A340-600’s, most of them won’t be ready until Q3/Q4 this year since most of the A340’s going under the switch currently are the ones that flying to MUC
