Lufthansa May Tap Coffers for TAP

News from Europe (Financial Times) is suggesting that Lufthansa may be fielding calls from TAP (Portugal’s national carrier) regarding a potential purchase of the airline. Portugal earlier this year indicated their intentions to privatize the carrier by year’s end.

TAP, a specialist in Latin/South American service would seem to be an ideal fit for Lufthansa’s empire as it would fill a large gap that exists in Lufthansa’s Latin/South American reach.

Expect there to be a bidding war for TAP as there are several airlines that would benefit from expanding their reach into the Latin/South American Markets.

Stay tuned to see if a bidding war erupts…..
