LUFTHANSA Strike Information Announced For Friday

UFO, the union representing parts of Lufthansa’s cabin crew has finally announced it’s strike plans that will be in effect tomorrow.

Beginning at 05:00 and lasting until 13:00 (Frankfurt Local Time), cabin crew will be on strike and according to Lufthansa, will lead to the cancellation of 64 flights during this time frame. This is only 25% of the flights normally scheduled during that time frame.

The strikes will affect flights departing Frankfurt, Munich and possibly Berlin.

As of this post, Lufthansa has not listed the specific flights that will be canceled, but please visit this LUFTHANSA WEBPAGE that will have updated information regarding the canceled flights. I will also update this post with the canceled flights once Lufthansa announces them.

You can also follow me on twitter on @LufthansaFlyer for updates since I’ll use twitter to re-tweet any information that comes from Lufthansa.

LUFTHANSA STRIKE UPDATE: NO Strikes Thursday, BUT Promised On Friday

UFO, the Cabin Crew Union representing a significant number of Lufthansa’s Flight Attendants announced that there would be no strikes on Thursday.

They did warn that strikes would begin Friday and will give 6 hours notice before a work stoppage would take place. They did not indicate which airports or flights they will target.

However the UFO’s President Nicoley Baublies did leave this hint:

“Now we just want to announce that there will be one other surprise, because the strike will take place at the place where the responsibility for the current Lufthansa disaster began.”

So at least for another day Lufthansa operations should run normally.

SWISS (a Lufthansa Group Airline) has offered to step in and help Lufthansa by increasing flight operations and making staff available for flights.
