In a brief Press Release from Frankfurt, Lufthansa announced that their Supervisory Board has approved the development of a Premium Economy Cabin that will be installed throughout the entire long haul fleet (A330,A340, A380, B747-4 and B747-8i).
A focus group will begin developing the product at the beginning of 2013. This process will determine the exact nature of Premium Economy seating.
In the press release, Lufthansa indicated that it will take 2 years to develop the Premium Economy platform, and retrofitting will begin at that point.
As with any Premium Economy product, expect it’s pricing to fall between Business and standard Economy class.
About time…hopefully they have a product that is similar to Air France.
@Harrison: UA does not have a Premium Economy cabin – E+ is not a separate cabin, nor a separate class of service.
For UA flyers this is worrisome. Will GPUs upgrade only to Premium Economy rather than to C on LH?
@Harrison – Good point! I’m hoping for Air New Zealand WOW!
Let’s see if they make it TK-good or UA-bad
