LUFTHANSA / SWISS First Class Sale To The USA: From Only €3000!!

LUFTHANSA / SWISS First Class Sale To The USA: From Only €3000!!

Lufthansa has launched a very attractive First Class fare sale for travel between Germany and the USA.    How attractive?   How about First Class fares for the price of Business Class?

The absolute cheapest prices are to the East Coast, where Philadelphia, NYC, and Boston can be reached for only €3019.  Most of the Midwest can be reached for only €3300 while the West Coast gets a bit more pricier at €5000.

The nice part of the fare sale is that the prices are valid for travel on Lufthansa or SWISS, however your travel needs to originate in Germany.  You can also find these fares for travel on United flights from Germany as well.

The fare sale is in place until May 29 and is valid for travel between June 30 and September 10, 2017.

Take advantage of these great prices and enjoy wonderful perks such as the First Class Terminal in Frankfurt or SWISS’ amazing First Class Lounge in Zurich!

LUFTHANSA Changes Mind About A350 To Seoul

LUFTHANSA Changes Mind About A350 To Seoul

In today’s timetable update email that I woke up to, it appears that Lufthansa will not be sending the A350 to Seoul for a special appearance after all.

A few days ago, LH updated their timetable showing that their A350 would debut in Seoul at the beginning of the Olympics and then again at the end.    It was to fly to Seoul on February 4 and then once more on February 25.

Looking at the schedule it now appears that LH has reverted back to having the A346 fly the route on those days.

I’m not sure why this whipsaw in flight planning took place, but it is what it is.     I can only venture a guess that LH has plans to send the A350 to Seoul, but it will be done as a separate one-off flight perhaps dedicated only to athletes traveling to and from the Olympics while regular passengers will fly the normal scheduled flights.

TSA Is Testing Enhanced Electronics Screening…..May Lead To New Policies

TSA Is Testing Enhanced Electronics Screening…..May Lead To New Policies

The TSA has announced a trial program focused on increasing the scrutiny of electronic devices that are brought aboard aircraft.

The experiment has been quietly launched at 10 airports throughout the USA and requires passengers to unpack any electronic device larger than a phone, and place the devices in a separate screening bin.

The TSA hopes to prove that the increased security measures will not lead to increased wait times at Security Checkpoints.    Their belief is that if passengers remove all electronic devices from the bags, it leaves little room for misunderstandings.   For example in my own travels, I’ve experienced some airports requiring iPads to be removed, while other airports said iPads could be left in a bag.    With one consistent system-wide rule, it might actually decrease screening delays due to bags needing to be rescreened because there are no clear set of rules.

Personally, I’m not sure why the TSA has to go through ordeal of retooling something that hasn’t caught anyone trying to bring an explosive aboard a plane inside of an electronics device.   It seems like they are trying to fix something that isn’t broken.   I don’t see where anything substantial would be gained as far improving the screening process is concerned.  But that’s just me.

For those of us in the PreCheck program, rest easy.    The enhanced screening will not apply to PreCheck members.

As of now, the following airports are part of the TSA’s trial and testing of this new concept:

  • Boise Airport (BOI)
  • Colorado Springs Airport (COS)
  • Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW)
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
  • Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport (LBB)
  • Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU)
  • McCarran International Airport (LAS)
  • Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
