Are Your Travel Headphones Eavesdropping On You? Lawsuit Suggests That’s What BOSE May Be Doing!

Your headphones may have turned the tables on you, and are listening to you instead of the other way around……

A lawsuit filed in Chicago today alleges that BOSE may be using its ‘Bose Connect’ App to keep track of your listen habits, harvest that data, and then sells it to third parties for marketing purposes.

The complaint accuses BOSE of using this strategy with their QuietComfort 35, QuietControl 30, SoundLink Around-Ear Wireless Headphones II, SoundLink Color II, SoundSport Wireless, and SoundSport Pulse Wireless models.

The theme to the lawsuit revolves around invasion of privacy that could lead to profiling due to a person’s listening habits, especially when it comes to religious and political content.   It goes as far as to suggest that this action by BOSE may be a violation of Federal Wire Tap laws.

For those of us who travel a lot, being able to block out the world around us is a critical goal during a flight.   I never thought that I’d have to worry that the content on my headphones would become public domain information.   Something a bit too ‘big brother’ about this one.

If you use the Bose Connect app, you might want to consider removing it from your devices.

HURRY!! Only 2 Days Left In The United Mileage Plus 80% Miles Bonus Promo

Back in February, United launched one of their better miles purchase deals by offering Mileage Plus members up to 80% more miles when buying miles for their accounts.

The clock runs out on this deal at midnight on April 20, so theres still time left for those procrastinating about the purchase.

Based on feedback received from readers, it seems that few MP members are getting the 80% offer when they log into their account, but most are seeing bonus levels of 50-75%, which still makes for an attractive deal.    Attractive because of the the fun things you can do like use those miles for First or Business Class tickets on Lufthansa, or Business Class tickets on SWISS, Austrian, and Brussels.

Use this link to be taken to the Promo’s home page.   You’ll be asked to log into your Mileage Plus account, at which point you’ll see what bonus you qualify for.
