Ever since the first A350 joined the fleet last week, it has been on a whirlwind schedule with pilots flying it all around Germany in an effort to get their training flights completed. Until recently, LH has been publishing the schedule of these flights 2-3 days in advance but due to weather and short-notice changes, it will now announce the A350s schedule the day before. This is being done primarily for weather related issues as the airline doesn’t want ‘avgeeks’ trekking to airports in bad weather only to come away disappointed that the A350’s plans changed for the day.
As of right now, Lufthansa has only published the A350 target airports for tomorrow and times have yet to be confirmed. For December 28, the aircraft is scheduled to appear at Leipzig, Hannover, Stuttgart and Nuremberg. Typically the aircraft departs Munich by mid morning and is back to MUC by 4-5:00p.
LH has done a great job providing real time updates via their @LufthansaNews Twitter account. I suggest you follow this account so that you know exactly what is happening with the flights.

As expected, Lufthansa has added a substantial amount of training flights to their new A350 between now and December 27. Yesterday’s update covered only this week’s activity and was limited to a few airports. Today’s announcement not only increases the amount of flights but adds new places that the A350 can be spotted as Lufthansa pilots continue to get enough hours behind the ‘yoke’ so that they can be certified to operate the A350. Expect an update for additional flights between December 28 and January 31 to be released in a day or 2.
Today’s announcement adds the following appearances and even includes Christmas Day:
December 25:
11:00a: Departs Munich and flies to Leipzig for a touch and go at 11:55a.
11:55a: Leaves Leipzig and heads to Hannover for touch and go at 1:40p.
1:40p: Leaves Hannover and heads to Nuremberg for takeoffs and landings between 2:30p and 3:40p.

4:10p: Leaves Munich and heads to Stuttgart for a touch and go and returns to Munich at 6:10p.
Monday, December 26:
11:00a: Departs Munich and flies to Calons Vatry in Northeastern France and will execute takeoffs and landings between 12:20p and 3:10p.
3:10p: Departs Calons Vatry and returns to Munich at 4:30p.

Earlier today, amid poor conditions at Munich, Lufthansa’s first A350 (D-AIXA) finally touched down at her new home base to begin what should be a long and successful career.
As I mentioned in earlier posts, D-AIXA will begin a concentrated schedule starting tomorrow that will take her around Germany to allow pilots to gain certification to fly the A350. After this 7-10 day marathon, LH Technik will complete the installation of parts of the interior and other items before being released into service. The first event is scheduled for February 2 where the A350 will enjoy a ‘Roll In’ reception in Munich that I’ll be attending. Then on February 9, D-AIXA will fly a special roundtrip between Munich and Hamburg and then on February 10 she’ll begin regularly scheduled service between Munich and Delhi.
Lufthansa captured nearly every minute today of the A350 as it flew from Toulouse to Munich. Below you’ll find a series of photos and videos that LH had posted throughout the day celebrating the new milestone for the airline. All photos and videos are courtesy of Lufthansa.
