Lufthansa’s ‘Low Cost Carrier’ Eurowings announced earlier today that it was cancelling service between Cologne and Boston effective August 26, 2016. The 3 weekly flights had been in place only since May 4. No reason was given for the route cancellation but I suspect load factors were a major contributor to the decision.
Eurowings’ other US destination, Miami, remains in place for now with 3 flights per week from Cologne. Eurowings continues to serve several other Caribbean destinations including Cancun and Havana, among others.

It’s been a busy few days for Eurowings as they begin to update their Winter 2016/17 timetable. First they announce service between Cologne and Havana, now they set their sights on Egypt.
Beginning on November 5, Eurowings will fly between Vienna and Marsa Alam, a popular holiday destination in southeastern Egypt, along the shore of the Red Sea. Wikipedia makes it look great. This new destination fits the Eurowings agenda perfectly as they look to become a Low Cost Carrier option to unique holiday destinations normally not served by Lufthansa mainline service.
The new route will be flown by A321 aircraft and will operate once weekly on Saturdays:
Eurowings EW5910 will depart Vienna at 2:30p, arriving in Marsa Alam (RMF) at 7:40p.
Eurowings EW5911 will depart Marsa Alam at 8:20p, arriving in Vienna at 11:55p.
