LUFTHANSA Group Approves Substantial Aircraft Order

LUFTHANSA Group Approves Substantial Aircraft Order

Earlier today, the Supervisory Board for Lufthansa Group approved a 2.1 billion Euro proposal to add 16 new aircraft to the group’s fleet.

Specifically, SWISS will be adding 2 777-300ER aircraft in the first half of 2020 (and hopefully use them to replace the woeful antique currently flying between ZRH & JNB but I digress).    Lufthansa Cargo will receive 2 777 Freighters that will be used to retire 2 of their MD11 workhorses.

In addition to the long haul addition, the board also signed off on the purchase of 12 A320 aircraft.  This includes the conversion of 6 optioned aircraft into firm orders that will be delivered in 2022.   According to the press release 6 of these may be A320CEO (Current Engine Option) due to delivery delays with the A320NEO (New Engine Option).

LUFTHANSA Business Class Sale Ex-Italy and France To The World

LUFTHANSA Business Class Sale Ex-Italy and France To The World

Lufthansa has discounted several destinations around the world during a Business Class fare sale targeting departures from Italy and France (There may be other European countries involved, but I didn’t see it).

The most attractive pricing appears to be to Asia with most fares from France or Italy ranging between €1900 and €2200.    Latin America is also attractively priced in the same price range and South America can be reached for about €2300 to €2500.     USA and Canadian destinations begin at €2900 and work their way up from there.

It looks as though the fares are available for travel between now and October, but the lowest prices are to be found for departures and return flights taking place mid-week during this period.   A six night stay is also part of the terms for this sale.

LUFTHANSA Long Haul Updates For 2019…..Yes, 2019.

Not one for letting grass grow under their feet, Lufthansa schedule management has begun to tweak their Spring/Summer 2019 timetable.    Thus far only 2 changes have been filed in their system and they are minor, but many more are expected in the coming weeks.

Frankfurt – Bangkok effective March 31, 2019 will be flown by an A340-600 instead of an A340-300.

Frankfurt – Dallas effective march 31, 2019 will be flown by an A340-600 instead of an A330-300.
