Bombardier’s First ‘Candid’ Photo Of SWISS’ New CS100

Bombardier’s First ‘Candid’ Photo Of SWISS’ New CS100

Earlier today on Twitter, Bombardier released what I believe is one of their first ‘candid’ shots of the CS100 dressed in LX livery.    The photo is part of the media run up to the Paris Air Show that is set to kick off on June 15.

In addition to the CS100, Bombardier will be displaying the CS300 as well and plans to announce new performance metrics for both models in an attempt to fuel additional interest from airline customers.

The SWISS Cs100 will be on static display at Paris and will fly to Zurich afterwards to spend a few days visiting its new owner.

SWISS will be the first operator of the CS100 and plans call for the aircraft to enter service during the first half of 2016.

LUFTHANSA Decommissions Ebola Transport Aircraft & Returns It To Service

LUFTHANSA Decommissions Ebola Transport Aircraft & Returns It To Service

With the threat of Ebola abated, Lufthansa along with the German government have decided to decommission the Airbus A340 as an Ebola Evacuation Aircraft and return it to passenger service.

The A340, D-AIGZ, was pulled from service late last year and was on stand-by ever since in the event that Ebola patients needed emergency evacuation from affected areas in order to receive treatment.   The plane had been heavily modified to house potential Ebola patients in a manner that would protect them and those providing treatment.

Fortunately, the need never arose and it has been decided that the aircraft can now rejoin LH fleet later this summer.

LUFTHANSA Aircraft Deployment Strategy For Winter 2015/16

LUFTHANSA Aircraft Deployment Strategy For Winter 2015/16

Each year, airlines review and revise the aircraft that they deploy on certain routes due to seasonal demands.

For Lufthansa, this means a wide ranging overhaul covering a significant part of their long haul network.  The list below is their initial update and if history teaches us anything, it is by far not their last amendment for the Winter timetable.   I’ll provide updates as they become available.

For the time being, if you already have bookings that are affected by these changes, you should review your seat assignments.  In many cases, when there is an aircraft change seat assignments become ‘unassignments’.

Frankfurt – Atlanta:  The A340-600 will fly daily beginning October 25.   Previous plans called for a mix of A330 / A340 aircraft.

Frankfurt – Boston:  The 744 will replace the 747-8i beginning October 25 (LH422/423).

Frankfurt – Detroit: The A340-600 will fly the route daily.  Previous plans call for the 744.

Frankfurt – Doha – Muscat:  Beginning January 24 the A340-300 will replace the A330-300 on daily basis.

Frankfurt – Johannesburg: Beginning October 25, the 747-8i will replace the A380 on a daily basis.

Frankfurt – Kuala Lumpur – Jakarta:  The A340-300 will continue the route (5x/week).  Previous plans called for a 744.

Frankfurt – Mumbai: The 744 will continue the route (1x/day).  Previous plans called for the A380.

Frankfurt – New York (JFK):  Beginning October 25, LH404 and LH405 will be flown by an A340-600.  Previous plans called for a 744.    LH400/401 will be operated by a 747-8i.

Frankfurt – Seattle: Beginning October 25, the A340-300 will replace the 747-400.

Frankfurt -Seoul (ICN): Beginning October 25, the 747-8i will replace the A380.
