LUFTHANSA Installs First Class Between Newark and ??? ?

Lufthansa has updated their Winter timetable to now reflect First Class service between Duesseldorf and Newark.

Beginning on October 25,  Flight LH 408 (DUS-EWR) and LH 409 (EWR-DUS) will fly daily between the 2 cities.   Based on Lufthansa’s timetable, this should stay in place throughout the entire winter timetable which ends on March 26.

An Airbus A330-300 will fly the route.

LUFTHANSA USA Fare Sale Until August 31 — Starting at $599.

LUFTHANSA USA Fare Sale Until August 31 — Starting at $599.

Lufthansa’s current Economy Class Fare Sale from the US ends on August 31st and there are a few deals to be had.

The most attractive deal of the sale appears to be Tampa Bay – St. Petersburg for $599.  And no, it’s not St. Petersburg, Florida.

Otherwise most fares from the East Coast start from the low $700s and West Coast fares start from the mid $800 range.

In addition to the August 31 deadline for the sale, here are the remaining Terms and Conditions:

Departures must take place between September 22 and October 25, 2015.

Returns must take place between September 23 and January 25, 2015.

Tickets must be purchased 28 days in advance.

Weekend departures/arrivals may incur minor surcharges.

Remember to pay attention to the carrier operating your flights when making reservations!  Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian, Brussels, Air Canada and United can all potentially be booked.   You should know my opinion on the matter by now!

LUFTHANSA First Class Sale Enters Final Week

LUFTHANSA First Class Sale Enters Final Week

A few days  ago I posted info about a Business Class fare sale going on until the end of the month.  I now follow up with the First Class version.

For another week, Passengers can book First Class travel to Europe starting in the low $5000 area.   The best deal seems to be Boston – Brussels for only $5200 while most other east coast departures range in the $5400-6200 area.   For midwest and west coast departures, expect fares to range between $6000 and $7000.

The rules are similar to the Business Class sale in that tickets must be purchased by August 31 and travel must take place over the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend.   Departures must take place between November 21 and 27 while return flights must take place between November 26 and December 2.   Weekend departures may carry a small surcharge.

Most importantly, pay attention to the carriers that will be operating your flights.

For this sale, eligible carriers include United, Brussels, Air Canada, SWISS, Austrian and Lufthansa.   Out of these, only Lufthansa, SWISS and United offer a ‘true’ First Class cabin.

Obviously my recommendation is to choose Lufthansa or SWISS for the superior product, not to mention the fact that flying LH or LX will gain you access to the First Class Lounges and Frankfurt’s First Class Terminal.

Don’t forget to get your duck!
