LUFTHANSA and Air China Announce Deepening Of Relations

LUFTHANSA and Air China Announce Deepening Of Relations

In a ceremony in Beijing today, Lufthansa’s new CEO Carsten Spohr and Song Zhiyong, President of Air China signed an agreement that will increase ties between the two airlines.

According to the agreement, Lufthansa and Air China will make it easier for passengers flying both airlines in terms of products and services on the ground as well as coordinated timetables that will allow for convenient connections. Plans call for this to be in place in time for the Winter/Spring timetable that takes effect in October.

According to LH’s press release, this is only the initial step as far as an agreement between the 2 airlines. An expansion of the relationship should be expected in the future. This move ultimately creates more opportunities for LH in China which is currently the world’s 2nd largest market for airline travel and gives Air China better access to European markets.

This agreement compliments the existing agreements LH has with Air Canada, United and ANA that cover North America and Japan.
