When it rains, it pours.
The union (would love to use another term here…) representing Lufthansa’s pilots has called for them to walk off the job on Thursday, March 19. This comes in addition to the strike called for March 18 that targeted short-haul routes for LH and Germanwings.
The March 19 strike is set to target Long-Haul and Cargo flights. I haven’t seen the exact hours of the strike but I expect it to be a 24-hour walk out starting at 12:01a on March 19. I suspect LH will follow up with a list of affected flight once they sort out the details of the strike threat.
The short-haul strike for tomorrow has already caused LH to cancel 750 flights, impacting 80,000 passengers.
More details as they become available.

Lufthansa provided an update at 2p CEST that includes information on affected flights as part of the strike that is schedule for tomorrow. According to LH, up to a third of all flights scheduled for tomorrow may be impacted.
If you missed the headlines, the Pilot’s union called for a 24 hour strike beginning at 12:01a CEST on March 18 at Lufthansa and Germanwings focusing primarily on regional and short-haul routes.

For passengers whose flights are involved, LH has made it relatively easy to rebook your flights. You can look up your flights under MY BOOKINGS on Lufthansa.com where you can see if you’ve been rebooked on another flight. You’ll also have the option to request a full refund of your ticket as well. If you were ticketed by a travel agent, it may be easier to deal with them directly.
If your flights were within Germany, you’ll also have the option of transferring your ticket to Deutsche Bahn and take a train to your destination. This can be done online at LH.com or at any ticketing kiosk at the airport.

A short while ago, the union representing Lufthansa’s pilots has announced a strike action that is scheduled for Wednesday, March 18. It is scheduled to last for 24 hours, from 12:01a to 11:59p.
Details are not quite complete but it appears that the strike will threaten a fair amount of short and medium haul service flown by Lufthansa and Germanwings. According to LH, no other LH group airlines are affected by this.
Lufthansa will be publishing an updated timetable on Tuesday that will provide more details and additional flight information. Stay tuned.
