This is an offer that I took advantage of thanks to a heads up from a friend! (Thanks Pat!)
Fly between Chicago and Hong Kong between now and January 31, 2012 and you will earn double the award miles (base miles only, Class of Service is not considered). This applies only to United Flights 895 and 896, both 747-400 non-stop flights.
Chicago to Hong Kong and return is 15540 miles, with the promotion, it becomes 31080 award miles. Just remember that these miles do not count as Elite Qualifying Miles, but otherwise a great way to increase mileage balances in your Mileage Plus Account.
To qualify, you have to register HERE. Be aware of the terms and conditions as only certain Fare classes (F, A, J, C, D, Z, Y, B, M, U, H, Q, V, W, S) are eligible for the bonus miles.

FTD is currently offering a great promo for orders placed for Thanksgiving. For ever dollar spent, you’ll get 30 miles.
Quick Cost Per Mile Calculation: Spend $30.00, get 900 award miles. Thats 3.3 cents per mile. Keep in mind that these are not Elite Qualifying Miles.
To make it even better, you will get a 150 mile bonus for EACH order placed.
So if you’re going to order flowers for someone for the Holiday, take advantage of this opportunity.
Here’s the Link
UPDATE: I had a reader contact me letting me know that a message would pop up saying that significantly less miles may be earned on the order. He called FTD and they said that they will fix that error. So if you get that same message, you may need to call FTD to have them manually correct it.

On November 13, The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)Travel Cards Act was enacted that will allow for US Government employee and Business travelers visiting the 20 nations that make up APEC to use expedited customs and immigration lines at airports. These travelers will now be able to use the same lines as airline crew. In addition to this benefit, a screened an approved traveler under this program will not have to renew Visas each time they travel to one of the APEC countries. Travelers will be able to take mulitple trips for a period of 3 years without renewing a visa.
APEC has been in place since 1997, but this is the first time its being expanded in such a manner.
Current APEC members include: Australia, Brunei, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, Taipei, Thailand and Vietnam.
This act was submitted by Hawaiian Senators Daniel Inouye and Daniel Akaka in a bid to make it easier for travel to Asia and to encourage more face to face dialogue with their “Neighbors” in Asia.
Also nearing completion is an expanded “Trusted Traveler” program that will allow citizens of Singapore, South Korea and the US to use expedited customs and immigration lanes/kiosks when traveling among the 3 countries.
Now if they would only expand Trusted Traveler Status to more than just a couple of airlines and a handful of airports in the US!!
