Lufthansa’s flight 456 had some company during its approach into Los Angeles on Friday, March 19. According to the cockpit crew, as they were passing through 5,000 feet on approach into LAX a drone had come within 200 feet of the aircraft. The drone apparently had been hovering above the aircraft as it was descending.
The aircraft landed without incident.
