For those of you who are members of Miles & More, let this serve as a reminder that the current 50% off award ticket redemptions promo for travel to a variety of European destinations ends on March 31.
Until then, members can enjoy booking Business Class tickets for nearly 50% fewer miles than the normal rate. For example, what would be 105,000 miles for a round trip Business Class ticket between Chicago and Amsterdam will only ‘cost’ 55,000 miles if booked by March 31. Economy Class redemptions are discounted 50%, with only 30,000 miles needed to book round trip travel instead of the normal 60,000 miles.
The discount award bookings are available for a wide range of European destinations and include redemptions in both Economy and Business Class. The valid travel dates vary depending on specific city pairs with most requiring travel to be completed by early to mid April. However, there are a few destinations including Barcelona, Helsinki and Ancona (and others) that allow travel to take place during July, the peak of the summer travel season to Europe.
If you find yourself short of miles for this particular opportunity, Miles & More is offering a promotion that is discounting the purchase of miles by 20% through the end of March. You are allowed to purchase up to 12,000 miles per year for your account.
Additionally, you may want to consider applying for the Premier Miles & More World MasterCard so that the next time Miles & More offers an attractive ‘sale’ you’ll be in position to take advantage of it. With the current offer, new cardholders will earn 20,000 miles after an initial purchase and an additional 15,000 miles if a balance is transferred from another card.
Additional perks include a FREE companion ticket after an initial purchase with the card and on each card anniversary date thereafter and there are NO FOREIGN TRANSACTION FEES for using the card abroad. You’ll earn 2 miles per dollar spent booking travel on a Miles & More partner airline and 1 mile per dollar spent on all other purchases.

You know that Lufthansa publishes this “promotion” every month with new destination?!?
Sometimes destinations are published a day before!
I do, thats why I mentioned that this batch ends on April 1 in case there was any interest for anyone to take advantage of the March offerings which most of them are.
Is there a simple way to scan these – multiple cities or dates? I am not finding offiers, or even saver availability, when try different route pairings, and is slow. Perhaps I am just looking in the wrong places.
Unfortunately for this kind of promotion you could only see inventory on the MM site. Otherwise UA.com, ANA, etc would give a way to search a wide range of options fairly easily.
Have you tried looking just getting to a city like DUS? you can book that route and then use something like germanwings or more miles to get to your destination. Wish I had a better answer, but with this promo already being 2 weeks old, availability may be tight.
Did you know that it is just about impossible to read these comments on an iPhone? No matter what, the duck icon grows and covers the entire text of tha answer…
I know that the duck avatar is creating an issue for some. It’s being worked on but the problem has not been found yet. Thanks for the heads up!
Are the awards only applicable for lufthansa operated flights or any of its members flights as well ? and also on an average how much are the taxes and fees for a economy redemption ?
Here is the link that will cover the Term/Conditions – theres a small amendment for LH flights if you scroll down. Its tough to gage YQ (taxes, fees, etc) because it will vary based on trip.
Is the free companion ticket new to the Miles & More MasterCard? I got one last November and don’t recall seeing that perk.
I BELIEVE the companion ticket program back then was that you would get it after your first year with the card. The latest version awards the companion after the first purchase.
Am a united airlines mileage member….can i use my miles to buy a ticket on Lufthansa..thanks.
You can, but not for this promo. It doesn’t apply to to Mileage Plus. You’d need to book through UA directly.
