Just a reminder that the Lufthansa Business Class Fare Sale that I mentioned back in January ends today! The sale is valid for travel during most of the summer and well into the fall.
Most fares between the East Coast and a variety of European destinations range from the low to mid $2000 range, while the central US and west coast ranges between $3000 and $4000. There are a few anomalies like Detroit-Rome which is pricing at $4400 but that is exception and not the rule for this sale.
The valid travel dates for this promo are as follows:
Departures must take place between June 25 and August 29, 2015.
Return Travel must take place between July 7 and November 29, 2015.
Fares are valid for Monday through Thursday travel. Weekends will incur a surcharge.
Be mindful when you book your tickets since the operating carrier can be Lufthansa, Austrian, SWISS, Brussels, Air Canada or United. My suggestion is to focus on the first 4 carriers that I mentioned. You won’t regret it!
again with this bias against AC and United – yes, Austrian, Swiss and Brussels are top-notch, but Lufthansa business class is (in terms of food and service) not on par with the others, and not even at the level of United. The inflight entertainment is extremely lacking on LH (even in first class).
If you do book LH, be very careful to select flights on aircraft with the new business class, as the old business class product is basically like a really worn premium economy product. The old seats are not even lie-flat. If you get the new business class, it’s a fine product, but not quite as good as Austrian.
Look for 747-8i planes to be certain to get the new product (most A380 have it now too)
(note that United has two types of “businessfirst” seats, one kind much narrower than the other one so that’s something to watch out for as well! Both are lie-flat and ok but not special seats. Air Canada also has two different products, the new one on the 787 being excellent. The older one on all their other planes is just so-so, but it is lie-flat and thus superior to the old LH business class)
Yes, a bias….because I’m able to have one… 😉
