My wife received an email today from United Mileage Plus offering their typical and attractive mileage deal. Depending on the amount of miles you buy, you can get up to a 70% bonus.
HOWEVER this promo is a bit different in that they are offering an additional 10% to any miles you purchase if you purchase them by April 22, 2018. Otherwise, if you wait til after April 22, you’ll only qualify for the normal terms of the sale. The sale ends on May 2, 2018.
When I logged into my own account to see what kind of deal I could get, I was not offered the extra 10% bump for buying miles by April 22, so I suspect it’s a targeted offer.
The bonus breakdown:
If you buy between 5,000 and 14,000 miles, you’ll earn a 25% bonus (35% if you qualify for the 10% extra bonus).
If you buy between 15,000 and 29,000 miles, you’ll earn a 50% bonus (60% with extra bonus).
If you buy between 30,000 and 88,000 miles, you’ll earn a 70% bonus (80% with extra bonus).
Remember, these miles do not qualify for status level qualification, but they certainly go a long way in booking a First or Business Class seat on Lufthansa!

The deal is tiered so the more miles you buy, the better the discount.
The brackets break down as follows:
If you buy between 5,000 and 14,000 miles, you’ll get a 25% miles bonus and 1 entry into the sweepstakes.
If you buy between 15,000 and 29,000 miles you’ll get a 50% miles bonus and 1 entry into the sweepstakes.
If you buy between 30,000 and 85,000 miles you’ll earn a 75% miles bonus and 2 entries into the sweepstakes.
In doing the math you’ll pay about 2.8 cents per mile (CPM) if you buy between 5,000 and 14,000 miles (plus 25% bonus). Buying between 15,000 and 29,000 miles (plus 50% bonus) will give you a CPM of 2.3 cents. Buying over 30,000 miles (plus 50% bonus) will net you a cost of 2 cents per mile.
The promo is set to expire on March 9, 2018. You can buy 150,000 miles per year per Mileage Plus account, and the miles you buy do not count towards status attainment.

United is at it again with another edition of their MileagePlus Miles Sale.
This time, you can earn up to 50% more miles when you buy miles for your account. The bonus is incremental based on the amount of miles you purchase.
If you buy between 5,000 and 35,000 miles you’ll earn a 25% bonus.
If you buy over 35,000 miles you’ll earn a 50% bonus.
At maximum bonus levels, you’ll be buying miles for 2.3 cents per mile (including the bonus miles). Not a bad deal if you need to top off your account or are missing a few miles that are keeping you from that enjoyable Lufthansa First Class seat!
The promo started yesterday and continues through May 22. You can buy up to 150,000 miles for your account each year (including bonus miles credit).

United’s latest mile sale for Mileage Plus comes to an end at midnight on September 26. Between now and then, you can save up to 30% on the miles you need.
Specifically:
Buy 5,000 – 14,000 miles and save 15%
Buy 15,000 – 29,000 miles and save 20%
Buy 30,000 -150,000 miles and save 30%
Remember, you can buy up to a maximum 150,000 miles a year per account. They have a pretty good rate of return when they convert into First Class tickets on Lufthansa!

Until April 25, United is offering Mileage Plus members the opportunity to top off their account balances with a fairly attractive miles sale. The sale is tiered, so the more miles you buy, the greater your discount.
Purchasing between 5000 and 9000 miles will earn you a 20% mileage bonus (3.1 Cents Per Mile including taxes).
Purchasing between 10000 and 19000 miles will earn you a 40% mileage bonus (2.8 Cents Per Mile including taxes).
Purchasing between 20000 and 80000 miles will earn you an 80% mileage bonus (2.1 Cents Per Mile including taxes).
As you can see, the best option is at the 20,000+ mile purchase level. The deal is not necessarily the best that’s ever existed but if you are short a few miles for that Lufthansa First Class ticket, this kind of a sale is an economical way to fill the gap.
You can buy up to 80,000 miles (plus the 80% bonus) with this specific sale with an annual limit of 150,000 miles that can be purchased.
Miles do not count towards status level, they are strictly award miles.
