LUFTHANSA Flight Diverts To JFK After Bomb Threat

Tonight’s flight from Houston to Frankfurt made an emergency landing at JFK in New York after the flight crew received word that a bomb threat was issued to the airline.  The A380 had approximately 500 passengers and crew that exited the aircraft without incident.

The aircraft is still at JFK as of this post while Police and Security officials search the plane to confirm that no explosives are on board.   It’s expected that the plane will continue on to Frankfurt later this evening.

Here is the flight path of LH441 as it approached the northeast.  You’ll see the plane began its emergency decent while over New Jersey and made its turn back to JFK after dumping enough fuel and losing enough altitude while over Long Island, NY:

Fantastic 8-Year ‘Time Lapse’ Video Shows The Rise From The Ashes Of 1 World Trade Center

As a native New Yorker and as someone who lost several friends on 9/11 who were working for Cantor Fitzgerald in the World Trade Center at time, I find today as the perfect day to honor their legacy.

13 years since the horrific attack, and after 8 years of  planning, debate and construction, One World Trade Center has finally opened its doors for business.   As the centerpiece of the World Trade Center Complex, this 104 story masterpiece of architecture stands as the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.  At 1776 feet tall, it sends the perfect message when it comes to America’s resolve when faced with her darkest hours.

I came across an amazing video that shows an impressive 8-year ‘Time Lapse’ of the construction of the tower.   From the first footings to the installation of the spire atop the building, this video captures one of our finest moments as a nation.  Enjoy.
