BRUSSELS Airlines Introduces New Lounge Experience in Brussels

BRUSSELS Airlines has opened a brand new Lounge at Brussels Airports today which creates an entirely new and fresh experience for the airline’s loyal travelers (Star Alliance Gold members included!).

Referred to as “The Loft”, the new lounge offers passengers 13,500 square feet of space and is broken up into 8 different hubs, each with a different theme or purpose.    “The Loft” is nearly 4 times the size of its predecessor which should alleviate overcrowding concerns.    The lounge provides travelers with access to private bathrooms complete with showers as well as what ‘SN’ refers to as ‘NapBoxes’ for passengers looking to close there eyes for a few hours in between flights.

The lounge is designed to host up to 300 guests at one time and provides a few amenities that are fairly unique.   One of the more attractive amenities is the ability for lounge guests to borrow one of the lounge’s Surface Pro 3 tablets during their visit.     The tablet comes with a “Lounge Assistant” app that allows users to check flight status and book the use of a shower or ‘napbox’.   The app also provides video-on-demand through YELO.     If technology is not your strong suit, Brussels has provided their lounge staff with specialized ‘Butler Training’ to further assist you during your stay.

The following photos should provide a good first look at the lounge and some of the amenities that you’ll find (all photos courtesy of BRUSSELS Airlines):

LUFTHANSA Business Class Holiday Special: USA To Europe As Low As $2100!

LUFTHANSA Business Class Holiday Special: USA To Europe As Low As $2100!

To complement the First Class Fare Sale currently underway, LUFTHANSA has also lowered their Business Class fares for the Holiday Season.    These kind of fare sales are an annual event each holiday season where passengers can usually save upwards of 50% or more from regular fare rates.

The highlight for this sale is for travel between New York and Dusseldorf for only $2100.   Otherwise most East Coast departures to Lufthansa’s European destinations range between $2200 and $2600.   Departures from the West Coast start at only $3200.     The best value as far as cents-per-mile is concerned is perhaps Houston – Istanbul which is showing for only $2990.

As with the First Class Sale currently underway, these fares are available only until November 17, 2014.  Departures must take place between December 15 and January 3.   Return flights must take place between December 22 and January 17.  The fares are valid for flights operated by Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian, Brussels, Air Canada and United.

My personal recommendation is to fly aboard Lufthansa, Austrian or SWISS operated flights.  All have excellent Business Class cabins and hospitality.   In my opinion your best experience may come aboard a Lufthansa 747-8i which are all outfitted with the new Business Class seat that has been very popular with passengers.  For the best 747-8i experience, sit in the upper deck — it provides a very quiet and ‘private’ jet type of an experience.

LUFTHANSA First Class Fare Sale Is Just In Time For The Holidays……

LUFTHANSA First Class Fare Sale Is Just In Time For The Holidays……

Lufthansa is currently holding a First Class fare sale that discounts many of their routes by up to 50% off of their regular rates.   What this means is that you can travel from the USA to fantastic European destinations for what is normally a ‘Business Class Price’.

For example,  First Class travel between Boston and Brussels can be had for only $5040.   Otherwise most East Coast departures to Europe run in the very low $6000 range, while Central and West Coast USA departures begin at $7000.

These fares are in place until November 17 and are valid for departures between December 15 and January 3.  Return flights need to talk place between December 22 and January 7, 2015.   Perfect timing if you’re considering visiting Europe for Christmas and for the peak of Europe’s Christmas Market season.

Lufthansa’s First Class product has earned a 5-Star rating and is among the finest air travel experiences available.   Considering that the fleet has been recently overhauled to feature a new First Class seat and fantastic ground services such as the ‘beloved’ First Class Terminal in Frankfurt, it’s easy to see why so many passengers come away loving their LH First Class experience.  As a matter of fact, the FCT is nearing the completion of a minor facelift to further enhance the experience.

A word of WARNING:   This fare sale is valid for flights operated by Lufthansa, United, Air Canada, SWISS, Austrian and Brussels Airlines.   Please note that only Lufthansa, SWISS and United offer a dedicated first class cabin.   I STRONGLY recommend that you book your flights so that they are operated by Lufthansa or SWISS since that will give you a superior First Class experience both in the air and on the ground.    Flying with United’s First Class will not allow you entry into Lufthansa First Class Terminal or LH’s and SWISS’ First Class lounges!   So if you are going to spend $5000 or more on a ticket, make sure to get the best possible booking.   Send me a note if you need help building a First Class itinerary.
