SWISS Updates 777 European Schedule…. A LOT!

SWISS Updates 777 European Schedule…. A LOT!

As SWISS begins to integrate their first 777s into the fleet in February, they’ve provided a detailed update covering the deployment of the aircraft on a variety of intra-European routes.  With this latest update, LX has added Prague, Athens, and Venice to the 777s schedule.

These routes are used primarily to give LX crews ample opportunity to familiarize themselves with the aircraft before they begin flying their normal long haul routes.

Please keep in mind that this schedule is extremely fluid.   The schedule is subject to change literally on a day to day basis due to delivery delays, crew training, etc.    For example, LX’s previously schedule service between Zurich – Hamburg, and Zurich – Malaga on Saturdays between February 27 and March 26 is now CANCELLED.

Even though risks exist for booking these flights due to the chance that schedules can be changed, this is a great opportunity to experience SWISS’ brand new 777s at continental European prices!

SWISS Publishes 777 ‘Training Flight’ Schedule Within Europe

In anticipation of SWISS receiving their 777-300 aircraft next year, they’ve published a timetable showing crew training flights that will take place within Europe.

Please note that this special timetable is a VERY fluid one and changes should be expected.    Proceed at your own peril if you are trying to catch a ride on one of these test flights!  You might wind up on a Jumbolino instead! 🙂

As far as seating, it appears that SWISS has blocked the sale of First and Business Class seats for these flights.   It is not known at this point if that will change, or if LX will offer special upgrades to SENs and HONs who are booked on these flights.   If I learn more, I’ll pass it along.

Lufthansa and SWISS Recognized At World Travel Awards

Lufthansa and SWISS Recognized At World Travel Awards

Last week during an awards ceremony in Sardinia, Lufthansa and SWISS were acknowledged for providing ‘best in class’ passenger experiences.

SWISS was recognized for having the best Business Class product of any European airline.  This included both SWISS’ European business class as well as long-haul service.

Lufthansa took home awards for ‘Europe’s Leading Airline’ as well as ‘Europe’s Leading Airport Lounges’.   The lounge award was specific to their lounges in Frankfurt.   Hard to compete against them when you have the First Class Terminal and First Class Lounges providing outstanding passenger experiences.
