SWISS is running a very brief 2 day New Year’s sale for travel from North America to most of their European destinations. Fares from East Coast gateways range from $690 (JFK – Kiev) to approximately $900 for JFK – Venice. The majority of the fares however settle in the high $700 – low $800 range. Fares from the Central US and West Coast range between $850 to $950 for most destinations.
The sale runs through midnight EST on January 7 and the fares are valid for travel between January 12 and March 12, 2015. Traveling on weekends may incur a surcharge.

On occasion Lufthansa will launch a weekend sale where they allocate a specific number of tickets at great discounts for travel within Europe. The latest version of this sale starts this Friday and lasts only until Sunday. The sale covers departures from October to December while return trips need to take place between October 2, 2014 and March 31, 2015. Since the fare sale is not yet loaded into the system, I have no way of knowing if the Christmas Holiday period is blacked out from this fare sale but I assume that it will be.
The fares run anywhere from €99 to €139 but the majority that I’ve seen have been on the lower end of this range. As far as T&Cs are concerned, the minimum stay is 1 night for intra-Germany travel. If traveling between European countries, either a minimum of a 3 day stay is required OR a Friday night OR a Saturday night stay instead. These rules make it easy to take advantage of the fares for a great weekend away from home!
As I mentioned earlier, I don’t BELIEVE that these fares have been loaded into the system yet, but please start checking the LH website prior to the sale in the event that the fares are discounted ahead of the start date on Friday.

Among Lufthansa’s current offerings of discounted economy fares, New York – Milan stands out as one of the best deals. Currently, you can book travel between NYC and Milan for as low as $629 with excellent availability all the way out to mid-April 2015.
Looking at Google.com/flights, I can see that the best days to find this low fare are on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday however there are several pockets where the other days of the week show availability as well.
Additionally to get the lowest possible pricing option, either a minimum stay of 3 nights or Saturday night stay is required, otherwise the fares sneak up into the high $600 / low $700 range.
As is typical for any Lufthansa fare sale that involves USA departures, these flights can be operated by one of LH’s Star Alliance partners that operates in the USA. For this specific offer, I’m seeing Lufthansa, Brussels and United as being options. United even offers a non-stop from Newark to Milan making it perhaps the most efficient option. Otherwise you’ll have the option to connect through Munich, Frankfurt or Brussels.
