UNITED Mileage Plus Miles Sale….As Low As 1.9CPM! Ends Tomorrow!

UNITED Mileage Plus Miles Sale….As Low As 1.9CPM! Ends Tomorrow!

There’s one more day left to take advantage of United’s offer to buy miles for as low as 1.9 cents per mile (CPM).    The raw number is actually about 1.7 CPM but when you factor in the taxes/fees it adds a couple of tenths.

The discount is based on the amount of miles purchased and is tiered as follows:

Buy 5,000 – 9,000 miles:    Get 25% bonus
Buy 10,000 – 29,000 miles:  Get 50% bonus
Buy 30,000 – 75,000 miles:  Get 100% bonus

It’s once you buy 30,000 miles or more that you’ll get the CPMs under .02 cents, which makes it a very attractive opportunity to top off your balances.

Keep in mind that you can buy up to 150,000 miles a year, so if you have any room left, then you might want to take advantage of this deal.

And you know the best way to spend them right?  😉    I’m thinking Lufthansa First or Business Class award bookings!

Will Americans Need VISAs To Go To Europe?

Will Americans Need VISAs To Go To Europe?

I’m not talking credit cards here…..

In a game of  ‘Tit For Tat’, the EU is threatening to impose VISA requirements for Americans who wish to visit Europe.   The specifics of the threat have not been spelled out, but preparations may be taking place.

This threat comes on the heels of a recent Bill adopted by the House Of Representatives that would impose visa requirements on EU citizens that since March 2011 had visited Sudan, Syria, Iraq, and Iran.   The logic behind this potential legislation is to scrutinize the flow of persons into the US that may have recently visited countries that are potentially complicit in state sponsored terrorism.  The EU is obviously opposed to this measure, thus the threat to return the favor.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize the damaging implications something like this would have on tourism and business.

The vast majority of EU nations (23 of 28) currently enjoy the visa waiver program with the US.  I’m fairly certain that a knee-jerk reaction such as this will come with more unintended consequences than benefits.   Tourism and Businesses will obviously suffer the greatest consequences, but I guess thats not important……

New LUFTHANSA Contest Features ‘Peanuts’….

New LUFTHANSA Contest Features ‘Peanuts’….

To celebrate the release of the ‘Peanuts’ movie on 24 December, Lufthansa has launched an interactive contest that will award its Grand Prize Winner a travel voucher for €2500 valid for travel anywhere in the Lufthansa network.

The contest is broken up into 3 weekly games that require a bit of ‘skill’ to complete.   Successfully completing each game garners you one entry into the drawing for prizes.  You can earn one entry for each day you participate, ultimately having the ability to have 21 entries towards the prize pool.

Other prizes include private cinema showings of the movie,  replica models of Schroeder’s Piano and bed linen sets featuring the Peanuts crew.

Unfortunately the contest is only open to ‘legal’ residents of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (terms/conditions).

The contest ends on 29 December and the winners will be selected on 11 January, 2016.
