In the coming days, Brussels Airlines will be announcing the availability of a package for fans of Belgium’s National Football Team, the Red Devils celebrating the World Cup Tournament taking place in Brazil this summer.
Brussels Airlines will be releasing for sale 150 packages that will include travel to Sao Paulo with the team aboard an A330 as well as tickets to each game that Belgium will play in, up to and including the Final. Each package is priced at €3499 and includes the flights between Belgium and Sao Paulo and tickets to the games.
Hotel accommodations are not included in the package to give you flexibility to arrange your own hospitality. Once you book your package however, Brussels will share with you special hotel deals that will be available to you. Additionally, you’ll be responsible to arrange your own transportation between you hotel and the games.

Here is the tentative schedule of departing Belgium and returning home based on how well the team does:
Departure from Brussels will be on June 10.
If the team does not advance from the Group Matches, you’ll fly back on June 27.
If the team is eliminated in the ‘Sweet 16’ you’ll fly back on July 3 or 4.
If the team is eliminated in the ‘Quarter Finals’ you’ll fly back on July 7.
If the team advances to the ‘Semi-Finals’ you’ll fly back on July 15. This factors in the team playing in the 3rd place game on July 12, or the Final on July 13.
The sale has yet to open, but Brussels is accepting early indications of interest and they will let you know when the packages are available to book. If you are interested in this package, visit this link to sign up, and you’ll be notified when sales begin. It looks as though the sale should start on or around March 25, with Miles & More members having access to the sale 1 day ahead of everyone else.
20 Years ago today, Lufthansa celebrated two “FIRSTs” for the airline.
On March 18,1994 the first Airbus A321 entered service when ‘D-AIRA’ took to the skies for Lufthansa who was the launch Airline for the new type of aircraft. Thats ‘First’ #1.
The second ‘First’ to take place was that this A321 was the first Airbus that was fully assembled in Germany. A major accomplishment for a country just barely coming out of reunification in 1990.
The A321 model compliments the A320 family (A318/A319/A320/A321) by being an aircraft with 30% more capacity than the A320 while at the same time being 43% more efficient when it comes to carbon emissions and 10% more efficient in terms of fuel consumption. According to ‘Wikipedia’ there are 891 A321s in active service today around the world. For Lufthansa it represents the largest part of its fleet with 62 A321s in operation.
D-AIRA is still in service today. The photo at the top of this post was taken when I was plane spotting in Munich last year in the Fall.
