Attention LUFTHANSA Miles & More Members: ‘Meilenschnaeppchen’ Deals For October Expire Soon!

Attention LUFTHANSA Miles & More Members: ‘Meilenschnaeppchen’ Deals For October Expire Soon!

For those of you who take advantage of LUFTHANSA’s Miles & More program,  don’t forget to check  the October Mileage Bargains for award travel.

There are 136 opportunities for Business Class award travel between the USA and destinations throughout Europe, Russia and the Mid-East.   The beauty of these special offers is that you’ll only need 55,000 miles instead of the normal 105,000 miles that are usually required for Business Class redemptions from the USA.  A 48% discount is never a bad thing when it comes to travel! 🙂

Economy Class redemptions are available as well with savings of 50% from the typical redemption schedule.  Instead of 60,000 miles, you can redeem round-trip economy tickets for only 30,000 miles.

Yes there are taxes to consider when booking award travel through Miles & More, but even with taxes in the $600 neighborhood for Economy Class bookings or approximately $900 for Business Class bookings these are not bad deals.   Business Class especially is attractive when you consider the value of the ticket if you had to buy it.

The current offerings expire on October 31 and cover travel for February 2015.   March travel offers will be available on November 1.  In addition to all the offers for travel starting in the USA, there are pages and pages of great deals for travel originating from countries world wide,  just select them from the ‘FLIGHTS FROM:’ tab on the main page.

There aren’t too many Frequent Flyer Programs that regularly discount their redemption schedule by 50% and it is one of the many reasons that I will be leaving United Mileage Plus and focusing my efforts on Miles & More and Senator status for 2015.   More on that later!

LUFTHANSA Premium Economy – Photos Highlighting The Installation Process

LUFTHANSA Premium Economy – Photos Highlighting The Installation Process

Browsing through some of Lufthansa’s media galleries, I came across several photos that show a few highlights of the installation process of the new Premium Economy Seat.

These photos are a bit more candid and are not the perfectly posed photos that most of us have seen of the finished product.   Some of the photos show the side by side difference between the Premium Economy and Economy seats.  You’ll also get a good candid look at the seat pitch for the new seats.  All photos are courtesy of Lufthansa.

For a look at each aircraft’s configuration for Premium Economy please visit my recent post where you’ll find all of the new seat maps depicting the new cabin.

Other relevant posts that provide information on rollout of the new seat throughout the long-haul fleet:  A380, 747-8i, 747-400, Airbus A330/340

LUFTHANSA CARGO’s Contest Will Take You To A Cargo Destination!

LUFTHANSA CARGO’s Contest Will Take You To A Cargo Destination!

LUFTHANSA CARGO has launched a contest that will award 5 lucky winners a trip to one of 5 Lufthansa Cargo destinations around the world.    The destinations include Johannesburg, Buenos Aires, Istanbul, Los Angeles and Mumbai.

To enter, participants are asked to submit their favorite photos either through Instagram with the hashtag of #NetworkingTheWorldContest or via Lufthansa Cargo’s Contest Link on Facebook.    You may enter as many times as you wish!

The submission period will continue for 3 weeks from the start of the contest on October 22, 2014.   After the entry period closes, a Jury appointed by Lufthansa Cargo will review all entries and will select their favorite 50 entries to proceed to the second round.

As part of the second round, the 50 finalists will be given a challenge that needs to be completed in order to continue in the contest.   The challenge includes the submission of a video (50 second maximum) or 5 additional photos and a brief 500-word essay sharing your thoughts on what it would be like to be a travel journalist or blogger.   The final 50 will be given 2 weeks to complete this assignment and it will be from this pool of 50 that the 5 Finalists will be chosen.

Each of the  5 winners will be randomly assigned one of the 5 destinations that are part of this contest and will be flown by Lufthansa Airlines to their respective destination where they will be the guest of Lufthansa Cargo for 3 days.  As part of the prize package,  Lufthansa Cargo will provide each winner with 2 nights in a local hotel.

During their visit, each winner will have a chance to visit LH Cargo and meet with the local Cargo team and observe a typical day at a Lufthansa Cargo outstation.   Part of the Winner’s responsibility will be to share their experiences with the Lufthansa Cargo Community through photos and a brief description of their experience during their trip.
