Lufthansa and Cathay Pacific have announced a new codesharing agreement that will make it easier for Lufthansa Group passengers to travel to Australia and for Cathay passengers to reach 14 new European destinations.
The deal takes effect on April 26 and covers Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines.
For LH Group passengers, this means they will be able to book travel on a single ticket issued by Lufthansa, Swiss, and Austrian that will include flights operated by Cathay Pacific. The codeshare specifically includes being able to book travel to Sydney, Auckland, Melbourne, and Cairns.
Traveling to these destinations will now be possible with LH Group flights to Hong Kong, then connecting to Cathay Pacific flights the the aforementioned destinations.

Lufthansa Business Class fares start from $2500 for travel between the USA and Europe this Spring and into the early Summer.
The best fares are from the East Coast where you’ll find New York to Dusseldorf or Philly to Frankfurt for only $2500. Most other East Coast fares range between $2700 to $3000.
From the West Coast, you can fly between San Francisco and London for only $3100, making it perhaps the best deal as far as ‘cents per miles’ are concerned. Other West Coast fares range between $3300 and $4000.
From the Mid West, you’ll find the best deals out of Detroit, where you can find fares to most of Europe in the high $2000 / low $3000 range.
Departures need to take place between April 25 and June 30, 2017 while return travel must be completed by June 30, 2018. Tickets need to be purchased 10 days prior to departure.
The fare sale runs through March 30.

Before Spring ever arrives (at least north of the Equator), LH is already looking to the end of the year and has tweaked aircraft assignments on a handful of long-haul routes. This of course is done primarily because of demand shifts based on the season as well as maintenance schedules for certain aircraft types.
The changes are as follows:
- Frankfurt – Atlanta beginning October 29 will see the A343.
- Frankfurt – Bangkok effective October 28 will see the A380 instead of the 744.
- Frankfurt – Chennai effective October 29 will see the 343.
- Frankfurt – Dallas effective October 29 will see a mix of the A333 and A343.
- Frankfurt – Hong Kong effective October 29 will see the 747-8i instead of the A380.
- Frankfurt – Male effective November 1 will see the A333 in stead of the A343.
- Frankfurt – Philadelphia effective October 29 will see the A343.
- Frankfurt – Rio de Janeiro effective October 28 will see the 747 instead of the 747-8i.
