Lufthansa Celebrates Oktoberfest With Special ‘Trachten Team’ Flights

Continuing its tradition of celebrating Oktoberfest each year, Lufthansa has announced plans to bring this great festival aboard several flights over the coming days and weeks.

Beginning today, September 15,  Lufthansa will have certain flights operating from Munich ‘outfitted’ with special crews.  These crews, known as ‘Trachten Teams’ will be dressed in traditional Bavarian attire and will bring a bit of Oktoberfest to each of these special flights.  Something new for this year, passengers filing within Europe will also have an opportunity to experience LH’s Oktoberfest hospitality.

The following photo shows the variety of attire that you’ll find in Munich and on the special Tracthen flights.    From left to right:  Munich Customer Service Staff,  Long Haul Flight Attendants (center 2), Lufthansa CityLine Flight attendants.

LUFTHANSA Strike Update For Tomorrow: 747 To Fly Between Frankfurt and Munich!

LUFTHANSA Strike Update For Tomorrow: 747 To Fly Between Frankfurt and Munich!

In response to the pilot’s strike called for tomorrow in Munich, Lufthansa will operate AT LEAST 1 Round Trip between Frankfurt and Munich with a 747-400.  It’s too bad that such a rare event has to take place under this kind of circumstance, but if you are in Munich tomorrow between 10:00 and 11:00a, be on the look out for tail #D-ABVY.

D-ABVY will make a cameo appearance in Munich on Wednesday.

There may be another 747 service between FRA and MUC but nothing official has been published by Lufthansa as of yet.  This is a saavy way that LH can bypass some of the flights affecting passengers in Munich by rerouting their travel through Frankfurt, thus minimizing inconveniences.

Additionally, it looks like long haul flights are safe for tomorrow since pilots have volunteered to keep the long haul routes going, but there may be some delays to them as far as the afternoon departures are concerned. Lufthansa has also published a list of flights that are cancelled for tomorrow.   You can find that info here.

LUFTHANSA: Pilot Strike At Munich Tomorrow, September 10, 2014

LUFTHANSA: Pilot Strike At Munich Tomorrow, September 10, 2014

In their latest bid to disrupt passengers, the union representing Lufthansa’s pilots has called for a day-long strike that will affect Munich tomorrow.    The strike will take place between 10:00a and 8:00p CEST.

The previous strikes during the past 2 weeks had only affected EU and domestic German flights, this time the strike will impact long haul travel as well since the strike covers all LH flights in and out of ‘MUC’ during the stated time frame.

At this time, LH has not yet published their list of impacted flights, but I expect that to happen in the next few hours.   As part of this list I also expect that LH will cancel flights with departure times prior to and after the strike’s timeframe due to aircraft and air traffic logistics.

You can use this link to visit LH’s dedicated page that will provide updates on the strike, which will include the list of impacted flights.

Flights operated by Swiss, Brussels and Austrian that serve MUC will not be affected.

Starting to sound like a broken record isn’t it??
