Plane Spotting Frankfurt: Interesting Carriers & Unique Liveries

Plane Spotting Frankfurt: Interesting Carriers & Unique Liveries

Over the past 2-3 weeks I spent quite a bit of time in Frankfurt since I had two trips to Europe within that time frame.    One trip was dedicated to the Hamburg-DO and the other was a quick 72 hour trip which included the fantastic Lufthansa Caipirinha flight to Rio de Janeiro.

During my days and layovers in Frankfurt, I made it a point to spend as much time as possible on the Observation Deck in Terminal 2 so that I could add to my collection of Airliner photos (over 7,000 now).   The observation deck in Frankfurt is situated in such a way that you get up close to some interesting carriers and unique liveries.

For this post, I’ll focus on airlines that most of us do not normally see on a regular basis, along with carriers who are sporting unique liveries to commemorate a location or special event.

Coming up over the next few days I’ll add dedicated plane spotting posts for Lufthansa as well as for cities that I visited during my Hamburg-DO trip which included Zurich, Hamburg, Munich and Istanbul.   There may be a few shots from Rio and other places as well!  Lots of pictures to sort through and process.

For now, enjoy some one these unique and interesting Airlines that were photographed on May 25 in Frankfurt:

Anchorage Plane Spotting 2014 Edition: Part III

Anchorage Plane Spotting 2014 Edition: Part III

Here is the final installment covering my Plane Spotting trip to Anchorage.   These photos for the most part were taken on April 28 and for a good portion of the day a handy cold front over the mountains provided a nice dark back drop for aircraft arriving from the north.  At the same time, skies were clear and bright south of the airport, which allowed the mountains to act as a fantastic back drop to departing flights.

Oh, if you’re wondering about the Moose photo, it was yet another wildlife companion that spent quite a bit of time keeping an eye on me……

Anchorage Plane Spotting 2014 Edition Part 2: Hello Dream Lifter!

Anchorage Plane Spotting 2014 Edition Part 2: Hello Dream Lifter!

As promised, here is part 2 of my Plane Spotting photos from Anchorage.   After 14 consecutive hours (6:30a-9:00p)  spent at the observation areas on day 2, I came away with a wide variety of images thanks in part to a changing weather pattern as well as a surprise visit (at least to me) by Boeing’s Dream Lifter 747.   Below are some of my favorite shots as I sort through nearly 1200 shots taken on day 2.  More to come tomorrow.

Oh, if you’re wondering what the Moose pic has to do with Plane Spotting, he spent about 4-5 hours within 20-30 yards of me napping and snacking while I was taking pictures.
