In a press release this morning, Lufthansa has indicated that the A380 will start serving its Houston Market with the A380 effective August 1, 2012.
LH441 will depart Houston at 4:20p and arrive in Frankfurt at 9:05a the following morning.
The return flight from Frankfurt will be LH440 departing Frankfurt at 10:10a and arriving at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport at 1:50pm.
These flights are available for booking immediately.
This move aligns well with Lufthansa’s Oil and Energy Club which enables employees of the Energy Industry additional perks such as instant Frequent Flyer Program Status, access to clubs and priority check in.
Looking forward to seeing the A380 visit Houston!!
If I was LH, I would focus on non hub cities for UA/CO
e.g., AF sends the 380 to IAD, a DL non-hub.
That way, you maximize the options and seats to large O/D cities not served by your alliance partners across the Atlantic and maximize revenue for your venture.
LH seems to be moving the A380 around a lot. In the USA it has served JFK, LAX, SFO, MIA and now IAH.
Is LH trying to see where there is market demand? Or maybe they want to profit from the novelty demand? If there are some people who want to sample the A380, LH can fly it for a month in a market?
