In this Youtube video, we get to see the debut of the new Lufthansa Business Class seat in “real life”. This video was taken aboard Lufthansa’s newest A330 which entered service last week and debuted on the Munich-Washington DC route. The video is great, however it is in German, but the pictures say a million words in any language. There is also a Flynet demonstration highlighting the aircraft’s internet access ability.
The seats look great and are certainly a HUGE upgrade over the current Business Class Seat! The 2 biggest improvements are the ability for these seats to recline to a true 180 degree flat position and a MUCH LARGER video screen for the In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system. The next aircraft that will feature the new Business Class cabin will be the Boeing 747-8i that enters service next Friday. I’ll be on that airplane on the following Sunday returning from Frankfurt and will use twitter to “broadcast” during the flight. Watch out for your neighbor playing footsie with you – had this issue constantly on a flight yesterday when I was seated next to a tall old german who’s feet seemed to take a liking to mine while he slept.
Not sure why LH had to angle the seats towards each other. Oh wait, it’s ‘coz they can squueze more seats into business class, passenger comfort be damned. In flight service appears to have gone to the dogs too.
@Stephan – I’ll have a chance to hear it for myself on Thursday. Will let you know.
The noise of the seats when operating is a drawback if the sound quality is to be believed. Any confirmation that they are loud?
