Today on the Spiegel.de website, there was a write up about the upcoming changes to Lufthansa’s Miles&More program that has some members upset.
I’m traveling at the moment and do not have time to properly translate this article, however you can use Google’s Translate function to help you convert to English. Sorry for the inconvenience, but it is a good article to read.
@Jsck…thanks for the catch. fat fingers+ipad cut and paste = linking errors!! I think its OK now.
your link doesn’t work. you have an extra “http://” at the end.
To sum it up: hon-circle miles can no longer be collected in economy class, only on business and first tickets. A huge difference for frequent biz travellers who often buy full-fare economy tickets. The other story here is that you now only need 100k status miles instead if 130k to reach senator status, meaning those great lounges at FRA and MUC now get even more crowded!
When I saw the first rumblings a few days ago, I thought it was a typo. To not reward HON’s for Econ travel makes little sense to me. Considering there is not that much Business inventory on Intra-EU flights, it puts HON’s at a huge disadvantage. I guess LH figured it needs to thin out the HON’s, but I can imagine that there are so many of them. Whenever I transit FRA or MUC and visit the FCL’s or FCT, I seldom see it crowded (mid morning or mid afternoon depending if I am entering or leaving the EU). Though that may not be the best indicator to use.
