Thanks to Flyertalk’s Oliver2002 for combining all of the separate contest posts into dedicated threads so that it is easy for everyone to keep track of. If you are familiar with the Miles & More thread on FT, you’ll know that there is one section for Lufthansa, Austrian, Brussels and germanwings and a separate section for Swiss.
I had the idea to create these dedicated threads so that we can have a ‘one-stop’ source that will consolidate all of the various opportunities that exist to win travel on Lufthansa Group airlines. I like to think that I keep pretty good tabs on what’s happening, but I know there are a lot opportunities that I miss. Also, I tend to only track events, contests and news coming directly from the airlines however there are a lot of contests that come from different sources such as hotels, travel boards, etc. etc. etc. Having these threads set up will hopefully cast a wide net and provide even more opportunities for you to win free travel on a great group of airlines.
Use this link to access the dedicated contest thread for Lufthansa, Austrian, Brussels and germanwings.
Use this link to access the dedicated contest thread for Swiss.
One piece of advice: When you log in to FT and access these threads, make sure to subscribe to the thread notification option so that you can get an email when someone adds something to the thread. This way you’ll get the latest information on the newest contests.

If you are planning on originating your travels in Vienna or simply have a long layover during July and August, make sure to take advantage of AUSTRIAN’s Business Lounge sale. Typically the lounge access costs €35 per visit, but during for this promotion it will only cost €17.50.
The last time that I was in ‘VIE’ I had a chance to visit the new lounge which is located in the new dedicated Star Alliance Terminal. The terminal is set up in a very efficient manner, with a fairly large buffet by Do&Co and beverage area along with ample seating. It has a decent view of a view gates as well for the planespotter in you.
Additionally, there is complimentary WiFi , a Business Center complete with computers, fax and telephones and a dedicated “Quiet Area”.
There are 2 Business Lounges available. One in the Schengen area and on in the non-Schengen area. Which Lounge you can access will depend on your itinerary. Eligibility is open to anyone traveling on a Austrian or Austrian partner operated flight. Economy Class passengers are eligible for the discount as well.
You can purchase your lounge pass as soon as 36 hours prior to your scheduled departure or simply walk into the lounge and purchase your pass at that point.
Please be aware that each lounge access pass is valid for one person. You can not “guest” someone into the lounge. Also, the pass is not transferrable.

Thanks to the members of FlyerTalk’s ‘Miles & More’ thread for keeping up with the various promotions in place for members of ‘Miles & More’ (Lufthansa Group (including germanwings), LOT Polish, Adria, Croatia and Luxair). The thread itself maintains a “sticky” post that keeps track of the latest targeted and non-target offers.
Currently, there are a few non-targeted offers that are fairly attractive. If any of these apply to your travels, make sure to take advantage of them. If not, I would visit the thread on a regular basis to check for updates on new offerings. There are several dozen active members on that thread that regularly find deals and opportunities.
The current Miles & More promotions include:
AUSTRIAN: Fly on Austrian’s new route between Vienna and Chicago between now and July 31 and you’ll earn double miles regardless of class of travel. Registration is required and you must fly on Austrian flight #’s OS65 and/or OS66 to qualify. You can have a maximum of 8 flights earn the bonus miles.
SWISS: Fly in economy class on their new Zurich-Singapore route on flights LX178/LX179 and you’ll earn double miles until June 30. The miles are award miles only, and you need to register for the promo prior to your first flight. You can have a maximum of 8 flights earn the bonus miles.
BRUSSELS: Fly in any class of travel on Brussels flights between Belgium and Washington DC and you can earn double award miles. The offer starts on June 18 and is valid for travel until August 31. To Celebrate the launch of Austrian’s newest long haul route that connects Chicago and Vienna, Austrian Airlines and the Vienna Tourist Board are bringing the celebration to Chicago’s Navy Pier on Saturday May 25.
The event is called “Vienna From A Different Angle” and will include an afternoon full of Viennese Acrobats and Dancers who will perform vertical dance artistry on a 69-foot wall located on the lawn near the entry to Navy Pier. There will be several shows throughout the afternoon with the first performance scheduled to begin at 1pm.

In between performances, the public will have a chance to try their vertical dancing skills and ‘dance the wall’ as well, so bring sneakers for traction and comfortable clothes that will not create a “wardrobe malfunction” should you hang upside down! 🙂
For those of you who may be in Chicago and are not familiar with it, Navy Pier is located at 600 East Grand Avenue and is a fantastic spot to spend time shopping, eating and walking along the shores of Lake Michigan.
