Lufthansa has launched a bit of a promotion that will give 350 fans the opportunity to have their name added to the fuselage of Lufthansa’s ‘Fanhansa’ fan aircraft that will be used to take the team to France for the European Football Championships on June 7.

To enter for your chance to have your name on the plane, visit this link to apply.   You can apply from now until May 12.   Winners will be picked via random drawing.

Lufthansa will also be holding other contests and promotions as they ramp up to the tournament.  Stay tuned.

Lufthansa’s Newest 747-8i ‘Fanhansa’ Comes Out Of Hangar & Enters Service Tomorrow

Lufthansa’s Newest 747-8i ‘Fanhansa’ Comes Out Of Hangar & Enters Service Tomorrow

Thanks to a friend ‘behind the fence’ at Lufthansa in Frankfurt, here are among the first ever images of Lufthansa’s newest 747-8i, D-ABYO, as she sports the ‘Fanhansa’ livery in celebration of the World Cup.

Nicknamed ‘Saarland’, she’ll take to the air tomorrow for the first time in passenger service as she flies from Frankfurt to Bangalore.  Up until now, she has been parked in Hangar 5 since being delivered from Boeing.

As far as I am aware, these are the first outdoor images of her moments after being pulled out of the hangar where she was undergoing final preparations before being certified by Lufthansa Technik.
Enjoy the photos, and thanks Uli! 😉

Fanhansa Livery Update: The Exact Aircraft That Will Have The New Logo

Earlier today I talked about Lufthansa’s ‘re-branding’ a few of their aircraft to celebrate the World Cup.  Since that post, I’ve been able to track down the exact aircraft that will have the new look, so hopefully you’ll be able to know ahead of time if you’ll be on one of these ‘Limited Edition’ flights.

Here are the tail numbers:

Boeing 747-8i:   D-ABYO, D-ABYM

Boeing 747-400:  D-ABTH, D-ABVS

Airbus A340-600:  D-AIHQ

Airbus A330:  D-AIKD, D-AIKG, D-AIKH

Airbus A320:  Unknown at the moment.

Keep in mind that these kinds of things are subject to last minute revisions.   If anything changes, I’ll pass the info along.
