Lufthansa’s fare sale to Venice ends at midnight tonight. It’s a “farely” attractive sale that lets you fly from New York to Venice for only $919. Other US gateways range in the low $1000 to $1100 (for example Seattle or San Francisco to Venice is $1129).
The fare sale is valid for departures between October 24 and December 15, 2013. You must return between October 27, 2013 and January 15, 2014.
Venice ranks among my most favorite cities in the world. After spending several days there 2 years ago, it quickly earned a “MUST VISIT AGAIN” rating from me. If you have never been to ‘VCE’, I highly recommend that you see it at least once!

It appears that Lufthansa is preparing to let passengers pay a few Euros to select a seat at time of booking for flights operated within Europe and regional flights between Europe, Africa and the Mid-East. The program may be expanded to include long haul routes at a future point.
In it’s current form, this program will be available for bookings made only through a travel agent, with potential expansion to bookings made via Lufthansa.com in the future.
Currently, when passengers book travel that involves non long-haul flights, seats are generally assigned at check in. When the Advanced Seat Reservation (ASR) program is put in place later this year, passengers can pay between €5 and €15 to reserve their seats on short haul and regional flights.
The program will most likely be expanded to include long haul flights as well. Currently, most passengers booking economy tickets on long haul flights can reserve their seats at time of booking without paying an additional fee. In the future, they will need to pay a fee of up to €40 to reserve their seats at booking.

The lounges in Munich will also join in the celebration and will offer authentic Bavarian items during September. Lufthansa announced today plans to hire 500 new Flight Attendants to fill a gap in demand thanks to larger aircraft being utilized on long haul routes and seasonal demand.
The program for these fortunate 500 employees will come with a 2 year contract and Flight Attendants would only work 6 months during the year, March to October, but would have their salaries and benefits in place the entire year. This new approach is designed to help Lufthansa meet peak travel season demand and also because ‘LH’ is migrating to larger aircraft in Munich (A340-600s instead of the smaller -300) and in Frankfurt thanks to the growing fleet of 747-8i aircraft.
Successful hires will be offered a 2 year contract with the opportunity to extend the contract once for another 2 years, bringing the total commitment to 4 years. A program like this becomes extremely attractive to students and individuals who have flexibility with their schedules during the Spring and Summer. All new hires will be trained to same rigorous standards as any other Lufthansa Flight Attendant.
If you are interested in this great opportunity, please visit www.be-lufthansa.com (Lufthansa’s career website) for more information and specifications regarding the role. Training for new hires is scheduled to begin in December.
