Lufthansa has been running a Business Class sale for the last few days, and it’s set to expire on August 16. The sale covers travel between the US and Europe between September and October. Most fares can be had between $2600 and $2900 from the East Coast with some attractive pockets from the West Coast such as Seattle – Munich for only $2900. There are some fares avoid as well such as Detroit – Munich which is pricing at $5900. Drive 3 hours to Chicago and save $3100 and fly Chicago – Frankfurt for only $2800!
This might be a compelling opportunity to snag these tickets for Oktoberfest!
The fine print:
The Fare Sale ends August 16
Departures must take place between September 8 and October 28.
Return travel must take place between September 9 an January 28.
Fares based on mid-week travel (Monday-Thursday). Other days will incur a $60 surcharge.
A Saturday night stay is required.
Fares valid on Air Canada, Austrian, Brussels, Lufthansa, SWISS, and United.

Over the past few weeks, United has been selling miles for their Mileage Plus program which has been giving buyers the opportunity to receive a 100% bonus on the miles they purchase. This sale ends on August 15, so there are still a few days left to top up your mileage balances so you can redeem for those Lufthansa First Class tickets that have been relatively easy to find.
From what I gather, there may be one catch in order to be eligible for the offer and that is you need to be a United MileagePlus credit card holder. However I don’t know how tightly that will be enforced. Once you go to the Mileage Purchase page and log in, you’ll see if you are eligible for the bonus mile offer.
The sale is structured so that the more miles that are purchased, the higher bonus. It’s broken down as follows:
Buying between 5,000 and 14,000 miles will earn a 25% bonus.
Buying between 15,000 and 29,000 miles will earn a 60% bonus.
Buying between 30,000 and 75,000 miles will earn a 100% bonus.
Mileage Plus members can buy up to 150,000 miles annually for their account, including the bonus miles that are awarded at purchase.
Additionally, anyone who purchases miles during this promo will be entered into a drawing that will award winners additional miles. 1st Place will get 250,000 miles, 2nd Place will get 10000 miles, and 3 3rd Place winners will get 50,000 miles each.

Austrian has announced that they will begin service between Vienna and Los Angeles in 2017. It will most likely coincide with the Summer 2017 timetable which has yet to be finalized.
According to those ‘in the know’, Austrian will fly their 777 on the route 6 times a week. Further details about the flight will be made available once all approvals, etc. are in place.
Austrian’s current USA destinations include Washington, Chicago, New York, and Miami.
