Lufthansa Flight Attendants Outline Strike Timelines – COMING SOON!

Lufthansa Flight Attendants Outline Strike Timelines – COMING SOON!

The union representing over 19,000 of Lufthansa’s Cabin Crew has once again drawn a line in the sand with threats of new strikes.

Earlier today, the union announced that unless a labor deal is reached by June 30, Cabin Crews would go on strike beginning July 1.   They also posed a veiled threat suggesting numerous daily strikes until September 16, designed intentionally to cripple LH during the very busy summer holiday travel season.

The core of the problem comes from a long-drawn out battle over retirement age and pension benefits.   With interests so low, pension programs are under strain and Lufthansa simply wants their crews to contribute more to their retirement programs in order to preserve an early retirement age of 55.

The union thinks that the employees shouldn’t take on the increased responsibility for their own future but yet offer no constructive alternatives to their strategy of  ‘gimmee, gimmee, gimmee’.

AUSTRIAN’s Female Flight Attendants Vote & The Results Are In

AUSTRIAN’s Female Flight Attendants Vote & The Results Are In

Last month, Austrian’s female flight attendants took to the ballot box and voted on whether or not to continue the tradition of red leggings and shoes as part of the new uniform that will be introduced next year.

Well, the results are in after 4 weeks of voting and it appears that a overwhelming majority has voted to maintain the status quo.     71% percent of OS’ flight attendants took part in the poll and 70% of that group decided to continue with the current look of red leggings and red shoes.

I know many of you were waiting with bated breath on the hotly contest issue 🙂

CHECK YOUR EMAIL!

Miles & More announced today an award mile bonus promo based on travel between July 1 and September 30.  You’ll find the announcement and registration information in your e-mail.

If during the time of the promotion, you earn at least 12,500 Status Miles, you will be awarded a bonus of 3,750 award miles.

Keep in mind that it is ‘Status Miles’ earned that count towards the promo, so if you are flying on a fare class that earns 150%, you’ll earn 150% towards the 12,500 mile goal.  If you fly a fare that only credits 50%, then you’ll only earn 50% of the flown miles towards that goal.    Miles credited from the ‘Executive Bonus’ that FTL’s, Senators, and Hons earn DO NOT count towards this promotion.

Of course as luck would have it, my LH travels during that time frame will earn 12,421 miles…….

By the way, this post is made possible by Lufthansa’s FlyNet aboard a 747-8i (D-ABYU) on my way to Frankfurt….. 😉
