I continue to work out sorting out the 18k photos. Here is the latest batch of shots that I thought were worth sharing. If you missed the previous installments you can find Part I here, and Part II here.
In Part III, I’ve included a video capturing a fairly rare moment where a male lion from the Majingilane coalition was spending time with a Lioness from the Othawa pride in the hopes of furthering the population. He would not have any luck this time.
Enjoy!
Zebra….Up close and personal
Baboon and baby cross a road as Buffalo moved into the area.
Warthog watches with a wary eye….
‘Lesser Spotted’ Weaver males work on their nests. Look closely to the left and you’ll see a Striated Heron sitting on her nest.
A rare sighting of a female (l) and male (r) Bataleur Eagle.
A very pregnant Zebra eats for 2, while an Oxpecker goes for a ride….
A rare ‘blonde’ version of a Wahlberg’s Eagle. About 5-10% come from the factory ‘as blondes’. Most are dark brown.
The following sequence is of a rare Night Heron that seldon appears the in the daytime. The exception is typically only made when it is looking for a viable nesting area for her eggs. I spend a good deal of time watching and enjoying her.
In the following video, you’ll see that Majigilane Lion trying to court the Othawa Lioness:
Availability for the fare is wide open well into next year (into mid-May!) and covers all of LH’s North American gateways. In other words, you can fly to London from Newark for $2020 or from LAX to London for $2020. This is not a bad Premium Cabin Mileage Run candidate (books to P fare class)!
I don’t know for how long these fares will be loaded into the system, so I suggest acting sooner than later. I suspect once BA pulls their fares, LH will pull theirs.
LUFTHANSA has announced that it will be adding to their US destinations.
Beginning on April 29, passengers will be able to fly between San Jose, California and Frankfurt. The new service will operate 5 days week (No service on Tuesdays or Thursdays) and will be be flown by a ‘mainline’ 3-class (Business / Premium Economy /Economy) A340 aircraft until June 30 when the route will transfer to Lufthansa’s ‘Cityline’ division.
Once under Cityline it will still be flown by an A340, but a higher density version as far as passenger capacity is concerned. Fewer Business Class and Premium Economy seats will be available once that transition takes place on June 30.
The flight details are as follows:
Flight LH488 will depart FRANKFURT at 10:40a and arrive in SAN JOSE (SJC) at 1:40p.
Flight LH489 will depart SAN JOSE at 3:20p and arrive in FRANKFURT at 11:35 the following morning.
Booking is now open on this new route!
In addition to this announcement, LH has made several other updates to the timetable for next year. I’ll provide that info in a post later today.
